What are you doing to Save your Driving School?

Become a driving instructor and learn to tech in Leeds.
With the out-brake of Covid-19, the UK government has enforced a nation-wide lockdown. For us driving instructors and driving schools, this has had a massive impact on our day to day business. Unless you are teaching KEY-Workers, then you will have been at home hoping that you will still have a business to go back to.
What can you do as an instructor and business owner?
Firstly, I would recommend contacting all your pupils to see how they are coping with the lockdown? A genuine text to every pupil, to simply ask how they are doing and make sure they are all good and well, will allow you to keep in touch with your pupils and keep the idea of getting back to learning to drive when things return to normal.
Have you learnt anything new while we have been on lockdown? What a great time to start planning for your next standards check. See where you feel you could improve as an instructor, then do some research, or take an online course to improve your teaching skills. Only the strongest and best prepared driving schools and instructors will survive. The more you can offer your pupils, the better chance you will have when we come out of lockdown.
Are you planning any special offers to gain new pupils? I know and understand that we don’t get paid enough for what we do, however you are going to need new pupils to get you through the next 6 to 12 months. Think of an offer that will get you out of the starting blocks and fill up your diary. I think the resulting recession that will follow the lockdown, will send a lot of driving schools over the edge, don’t let your school be one of them.
Take a look at pupils that you already have, see who you are going to put in for a driving test as soon as the DVSA are taking bookings? Even if you think they are not quite test standard. You can always encourage them to take more lessons near the test date. This will help you retain pupils and motivate them to get straight back into learning.
Are you thinking of how you are going to market your driving school? When was the last time your website had a makeover? New images, update your blog, show off your new deals and offers. Blog, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter all need regular updates.
